Owning a horse can be like having a child — with a few obvious exceptions. With an average weight of 1,200 pounds, horses can't tell us what hurts; sometimes we don't know if it is the left front or the right hind. Occasionally we wonder if their manure should look the way that it does. When it comes to knowing if you should call the vet, it is usually advisable to err on the side of caution.
